Veterans Policy group
Hey hey hey!
Well, many exciting things have happened since I last wrote. JK has picked John Edwards as his VP - the best choice, I think. Eye candy, beautiful children, great wife, and a mind like a steel trap. Awesome!
Of course, the Bushies are already attacking - seems as if they don't have any good things to say about their record in office, so they have to pick on JK/JE. Blah, blah, blah.
The debates have been announced. Three Presidential, and one VP. Here are the dates and some information:
Last month, the campaign announced that prominent investment banker, attorney and Clinton administration veteran Vernon Jordan will be Senator Kerry's lead debate negotiator. In the upcoming weeks, the campaign will announce the key members of its negotiating team. Once the Bush team agrees to the debates, negotiations will begin with the Commission on Presidential Debates to agree upon topics and format for each debate.
The commission’s proposed debate schedule is below:
First Presidential Debate:
Thursday, September 30
University of Miami
Coral Gables, FL
Vice Presidential Debate:
Tuesday, October 5
Case Western Reserve University
Cleveland, OH
Second Presidential Debate:
Friday, October 8
Washington University
in St. Louis
Third Presidential Debate:
Wednesday, October 13
Arizona State University
Tempe, AZ
Now, we all remember how Dubbya came off looking good in the 2000 debates - This time around, he'll have his work cut out for him. My hope is, that he tries to attack Kerry, which will give JK the high road. Al Gore was a little too smug and sarcastic 4 years ago, which made Dubbya come off looking like a good ole boy, simple but NOT as stupid as originally thought. Sigh...
I think that JE will walk circles around the Dickster - if he could get Cheney to swear, that would be even cooler.
Today I TOOK ANNUAL LEAVE!!! (The Hatch Act doesn't allow us government folks to do campaign work on company time) and went to Kerry/Edwards Hdqtrs to participate in the campaign's Veterans Policy group. Very exciting, to know that we will be helping the campaign out - I really like the new headquarters. Now that the girls, Tony and I are settled in the new place, I'm going to volunteer a couple of evenings a week to help out.
I am also very happy to report that I got to meet Senator Max Cleland last week! I went to K/E hdqtrs to discuss minority veterans outreach, and there he came! I squealed like a little girl - "Senator Cleland! Senator Cleland! I'm so happy to meet you!" I got a big hug and a kiss from him. The rumor is that he will be the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs - I definitely want to work for HIM! He is SO COOL!
I don't know about anyone else, but it is so exciting to be a tiny little part of this movement to take back America.
And how about Whoopie Goldberg getting fired from Slim-Fast for comparing Bush to, well, her bush? I guess some people complained about her to the company, who thought that their consumer base would be eroded due to anti-Whoopie fever. Well, I don't think a few fat chicks will upset the balance on Election Day. And hey - back off! I'm a fat chick who doesn't subscribe to the media blitz of the perfect female form. So write to Slim-Fast and tell them to get over it!

So, write to Slim-Fast and lodge your complaint about them firing Whoopie!
That's about all the news that's fit to print, so I'll log off now. Don't forget - register to vote, get your friends to register to vote, and vote for John Kerry and John Edwards!
